Book Review: Kiss an Angel

Title: Kiss An Angel
Author: Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Synopsis:
     Wedding Day
Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don't happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?
Alex Markov, as humorless as he is deadly handsome, has no intention of playing the loving bridegroom to a spoiled little feather-head with champagne tastes. He drags Daisy from her uptown life to a broken down traveling circus and sets out to tame her to his ways.
But this man without a soul has met his match in a woman who's nothing but heart. Before long, passion will send them flying sky high without a safety net... risking it all in search of a love that will last forever.

Thoughts on the Book:
The edge this book has over the other SEP's books is the fact that she incorporated the element of historical romance with contemporary romance. I know most people doesn't want to have an arrange marriage nowadays but I find it romantic (if and only if, the guy is someone I want too). Yeah, that's supposed to be my secret but it's one of my fantasies.
I praise Daisy's character because she has so much dignity and she always wants to give. She can also speak four languages. She values marriage so giving up is not her game.
Alex on the other hand has live a hard life. He is believed to be a descendant of a powerful family in Russia. He has live in circus and experienced brutalities from his uncle before Daisy's father rescued him. He didn't believe in love until Daisy came along.
Somehow, I associate Daisy's character with Phoebe Calebow. You'll remember her if you've read It Had To Be You. They are both deprived of their fathers' love and their fathers believe the worst on them. They're both intelligent.
In this book, Phillips introduces a male character who works in a circus. It's different from her other books. It was good actually. It's more of a romantic drama. Add it to your to-read list if you haven't read it. Promise, you'll enjoy!
