One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

If you think, you've seen all the action there is to see in Divergent, then wait till you read this book. Not only was it action-packed, it was also full of drama, revelations, and even more twists that will really make your head spin.

So far, will the Dystopian Novels that I've read, this is the only book that can compare to Hunger Games in terms of intensity.

The author managed to sustain the mood in this book. There were too many catastrophes and if you fail to keep up with the flow of the story, you'll be surprised what's gonna happen next. There are characters in the story that will keep the readers second guessing all their motives, wondering if they're just pretending or going with the flow.

Insurgent is set after the attack caused by simulation. The factions are in chaos. Leaders of Abnegation were killed. Dauntless faction don't know where to go. Factionless are becoming more powerful and were secretly uniting. Candors are blackmailed to surrender the refugees. Amity still sticks with their manifestos and don't want to join the chaos. And the Divergent are in serious danger.

Tris is gnawed by conscience and  guilt over her abrupt decisions during the simulation attack that killed one of her closest friends. She has become reckless and is so eager to risk her life. Her loss had done a damage to her that may take sometime to heal.

Tris and Tobias becomes more intimate toward each other. I think this may be one of their major differences compared to Peeta and Katniss of Hunger Games. But as their relationship deepens, the more secrets they hide from each other.

You might be wondering why it was entitled Insurgent. Well, according to Fernando, an Erudite refugee, "Insurgent is a person who acts in opposition to the established authority, who is not necessarily regarded as a belligerent." (Insurgent, Page 458) And since Tris opposes the Erudites and the traitor Dauntless, she's considered an Insurgent.

As the chaos continues, the factions is in danger of being submitted to destruction. The once powerless will be holding the power but one thing is for sure, Tris will do everything in her power to reveal the truth that started the war and killed the Abnegation leaders.

Overall, it was a great read. The suspense is still there. The revelations and twists kept me entertained. Can't wait to read the last book.

Will everyone be ready for the big revelation? Are you ready for the tragic ending? Compose yourself and read Allegiant, the final installment of the Divergent series.

"Sometimes, people just want to be happy, even if it;s not real."
"Sometimes drastic change requires drastic measures."
"People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them."
