Forever Kind Love by Clara Stone - Blog Tour & Book Review

Life’s. Little. Surprises.

The last thing seven-year-old Carrigan "Ace" Casper foresaw was an eight-year-old Heath Lovelly walking into her life the day her mother died. From that moment on, Heath sticks by her side, slowly becoming her strength, her confidant, and her entire world. What she doesn’t know is, she's his saving grace, too.

Ten years later, Ace is handed another crippling challenge that threatens everything in her almost perfect life. Only, this time, she doesn't turn to Heath, hiding the truth instead. But Heath knows Ace too well and won't back down easily. He's ready to do whatever it takes and will stay by her side until she accepts that their love is the kinda love worth fighting for.

Will he be her forever triumph or her unexpected downfall?

Two lives.

One story.

And an unexpected journey to falling in love.

The first time I read Forever’s synopsis, I knew I’d love it. Yep, I’m a sucker for childhood sweetheart stories. So I didn’t really have a choice but to sign up for a review because I just have to read it.

Forever Kinda Love is a story of Carrigan “Ace” Casper and Heath Lovelly who met during the lowest moments of their lives. They found solace in each other when at the young age of seven and eight, the most important women in their lives where taken away from them. And as they say, the rest was history.

Ten years later, they are still a part of each other’s lives. But the problem is, they are starting to see each other as more than friends.

While I may love this book, I can’t help but think of Past Perfect by Alyson Bailey as I’m reading this, because frankly, the setting and the plot is almost the same.

Carrigan “Ace” Casper lost her mother due to an accident. She can’t help but feel guilty for how the things turned out. She remember that day so well. How she argued that the thing she loved the most, her ballet classes, would be stopped because her father doesn’t have enough money to support her. Years later, she still blames herself for her mother’s accident and for his father’s misery.
He’s beautiful—not the boy-next-door kind, but a perfect mixture of charm and muscle that’d make every girl at our school shiver. The kind of guy I’d want to marry, if he wasn’t my best friend, that is.
Heath Lovelly’s situation is almost similar to Ace. He’s also blaming himself for what happened to his mother. If not for him, her mother’s cancer wouldn’t have gone back. When he saw Ace, wearing her pink tutu, in the hospital, he saw it as his mission to make her smile. Since then, they were an inseparable team.

Heath turned into a man-whore. He always has some bimbo by his side. But one thing is constant, his best friend, Ace. She is his rock and he will do anything to protect her even if she doesn’t want to. Now that guys are showing interests to court her, he’s having doubts if he could keep his fists closed and not hurt them. It’s as if he doesn’t want to share Ace with anybody else. He doesn’t see anyone who deserves her.

As Ace’s physique develops, so is Heath’s feelings. Is he ready to take their relationship to the next level? What if she doesn’t feel the same way?
We’re no longer best friends. We’re more. More than just two strangers life happened to throw together. Far more than anything I’ve ever felt. And I’m not going to fuck it up.
As they got over their insecurities, worries, and fears, they realized that what they have together is far more important and is worth the risk of becoming more. Jealous Heath is adorable. I love how open he is about his feelings for her. I love how he wanted to change his reputation just to prove that he’s serious about his relationship with Ace. I liked how he wanted the world to know that he is with her. He’s proud of her and he always assure her that he will take care of her.
“Sometimes, no one can stop the future, Heath. So don’t worry too much about what ifs and live in the moment of today. With me.”
When Ace was diagnosed of cancer, she didn’t want Heath to know because she knows what this news will do to him. But Heath was better than that. He was stronger than what she expected. He became her rock. He supported her all the way even though it hurts him. Her health condition was an eye opener for them to enjoy and appreciate their lives while they are together.
I know she’s my forever kinda love, because she’s the light in my darkness, giving me the strength to never give up.
What Ace and Heath had together was real. A once in a lifetime kind of love and they were lucky enough to find it. What they had was something to be cherished.
“Don’t let self-doubt, or regret, or fear of what could be ruin your chance at happiness.”
For us to truly live, see, and enjoy life, we have to let go of all the self-doubts, regrets, or fears that cloud our judgment for this could ruin our chance at happiness.

Forever Kinda Love was really good. I liked how the author didn’t dwell on the treatments Ace had undergone, but instead emphasized on what happened after. It encourages people undergoing this kind of illness to see the brighter side - to think positive. I also liked how the characters fought for what they truly want. I liked how they matured and developed. Additionally, I liked that there was a resolution to the story. Ace’s father managed to change his ways and strived harder to support his daughter. I liked how Ace’s spirit didn’t deter even when dealt with the most difficult challenges. I liked how Heath and his family helped Ace make it through her illness. It was definitely a good read. If not for its similarity to Past Perfect, I would have given it a 5.

As you keep fighting for what you believe and stay true to yourself, there’s nothing in this world that can stop you from reaching the stars.
The truth of the matter is, tomorrow, the sun might not always rise.
“I don’t know what love feels like for everyone, but for me it’s you, Ace. It’s always been you. I love you,” I breathe. “I love you so damn much, it hurts.”
